| Originally selected by the Texas Rangers in the first round of the 1977 MLB Draft Dave Righetti was subsequently traded to the New York Yankees one year later. After seeing very limited action on the big league level in 1979-1980 Righetti burst onto the scene in 1981 leading the league in ERA (2.05) winning the Rookie of the Year Award and helping to lead the Yankees to a World Series appearance. After three sold seasons as a starter in the Bronx (including a No Hitter against the Boston Red Sox on July 4 1983) Righetti transitioned to the bullpen replacing the legendary Goose Gossage as the teams closer. He flourished in that role for 7 seasons before signing with the Giants as a free agent in 1991. This MLB baseball is hand signed by Dave Righetti on the sweet spot in blue ink.
